Momentum Spotlight: Claudia Kunin

At Momentum, we are honored to have a community of supporters who infuse passion and creativity in every aspect of their lives. Among them is Claudia Kunin, whose generous support has left a lasting impact on people of all abilities.

Claudia’s generosity extends far beyond her time and energy. As a photographer and artist, she has a deep appreciation for self-expression. When asked to select art for a new Achievable building in Los Angeles, Claudia collaborated with Momentum to curate a gallery showcasing works by Momentum artists. Her efforts not only elevated the visibility of these talented individuals but also celebrated their contributions to the broader community. “Bringing recognition to their self-expression and giving them a platform has been incredibly affirming,” Claudia shared.

For Claudia, this work is deeply personal. Her connection to the community began through a close family friend with cerebral palsy. Later in life, when she discovered her own close call with cerebral palsy at birth, Claudia felt an even deeper bond with the individuals and families she supports.

Claudia’s involvement in the disability community first began with a simple yet heartfelt idea: hosting gatherings to bring people together. Over the years, she organized themed parties that created spaces for joy and connection among families and caregivers of those with disabilities.

Her desire to help others didn’t stop there.

Recognizing the importance of fostering connections, Claudia continued to bring her ideas to life in meaningful ways. She introduced pet-assisted therapy initiatives, with her beloved dog, Lamb Chop, and spearheaded local art programs in her community. Reflecting on these moments, Claudia describes them as “an elevator ride to heaven,” marveling at the joy of watching others light up and the connection that art brought to participants and their families.
