Meet Occupational Therapist: Alexandra Arguelles, MOT, OTR/L, SWC

Q: What is your title at Momentum?

A: I am an OT supervisor, Fieldwork Lead, and Occupational Therapist

How long have you worked at Momentum?

A:  I have been at MPTN for 5 years.

Q: What therapy services are you a part of at Momentum?

A: I am a part of the Buddy Club group program and provide 1:1 OT services in our clinic.

Q: What university did you graduate from?

A: I received my Masters of Occupational Therapy from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) Go Sharks!

Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job?

A: The most rewarding part of my job is getting to know my clients and their families. I truly cherish and am honored to be a small part of each family’s journey.

Q: What feelings do you get seeing progress in the children you help support?

A: Seeing a child grow is something I do not take for granted it brings me joy and excitement. I truly believe seeing a child grow is one of the most beautiful things one can witness in their lifetime.

Q: Why did you choose to become an occupational therapist?

A: At the core of it all I wanted to help and be of service. At the age of 19, my grandfather had an aneurism and required 3 brain surgeries; he was not the same “Pop” we knew. Although after PT, OT, and Speech services he was able to walk, talk and enjoy watching TV, and playing dominos & drinking Coffee. I knew I wanted to be an OT to help people on their journey be able to partake in meaningful activities in their life.

Q: What is the biggest misconception many people have about OT?

A: That you only see OTs in the hospital or outpatient rehab. You can find OTs in many places such as schools, senior centers, skilled nursing facilities, home health, mental health settings, community practice, and so much more. We truly care about being able to help people 0-100+ engage in activities they love in the settings that matter most to them.
