Individuals at Momentum recently had the unique opportunity to explore memory, imagination, and self-expression through the power of scent in an interactive workshop led by perfumer and educator Ashley Eden Kessler.

Ashley guided participants through an immersive sensory journey as part of The Intersection of Creativity and Adaptive Tools art show.

From “sparkling” to “soft,” we learned there’s no right or wrong way to experience scent, only your way. The session was a beautiful celebration of creativity, confidence, and connection.

Thank you, Ashley, for helping us experience the world differently.

🌟Momentum Spotlight🌟 Mark has spent his care

🌟Momentum Spotlight🌟
Mark has spent his career focused on one thing: improving policy for people with disabilities. Before joining Momentum, he worked in Congress, where he saw firsthand the impact of advocacy. That experience led him to focus on public policy through the lens of community support and practical solutions.

At Momentum, Mark helps shape policy by staying connected to what’s happening on the ground. He works with state coalitions and national associations to influence decisions that directly affect service quality, staff wages, and access to care.

During the pandemic, Mark was part of a coalition that successfully pushed for federal COVID relief funds to be extended to Intermediate Care Facilities. More recently, he helped advocate for a $1.8 billion investment in California’s developmental disability system.

His focus now is on sustainable change. That includes fair pay for Direct Support Professionals and expanding innovative programs like Momentum Refresh, which help people with disabilities engage more fully in their communities.

What keeps him going is simple. The people Momentum serves and the team he works alongside.
“If I can help someone write an email to their representative or prepare for a meeting with a policymaker, I want them to reach out. That’s what I’m here for.”

Thank you to the @USC Alumni for including us in their Annual Alumni Day of Service! It was a success by all accounts as the Trojans took on a renewal project of our sensory tools and toys to support the development of children throughout our Pediatric Services. The children supported in our programs entered this week with a new range of renewed tools to strengthen their abilities and learning. Thanks to all of the amazing volunteers who took on the USC spirit to “Fight on” through every task handed to them to make this day and the inspiring result possible. #Momentum4All
