‘In Case You Missed It’ Highlights – 9/10

‘In Case You Missed It’ Highlights – 9/10

September 10, 2022
As we (hopefully) settle into cooler weather, we’re celebrating the accomplishments of the human spirit and those who make an impact on people’s lives. This week, we witnessed people stepping up to help a Momentum family in need and recognized an important team for their work.

National Direct Support Professionals Week Begins Sunday

Direct support professionals, or DSPs, are at the heart of in-home and community-based disability services. DSPs deliver essential long-term supports that empower people with disabilities. They are the soul of our adult services. We appreciate their heroic work as it continues every hour of every day. If you would like to say thank you to them with treats or a card, get in touch with us here.
Long Beach Gives Kicks Off Next Week

Four years ago, the Munzer Foundation has aligned with the City of Long Beach to enrich the community’s awareness and philanthropic support for the city’s local charities, including Momentum Pediatric Therapy Network.

This year the day of giving is on Thursday, Sept. 22. We invite you to join us to garner more support and awareness for our MPTN clinic in Long Beach and reach our fundraising goal of $5,000 to provide for our clinic wish list items. Items on our clinic wish list include additional: gym pads, therapy swings and items used during therapy such as theraputty, weighted lap pads, compression vest and more! Giving Days begins Thursday, Sept. 15. We’ll have more information as the date draws near, so stay tuned! See our page here.

Celebrating World Physical Therapy Day

This week, the world celebrated physical therapists! We have an incredible team at Momentum PTN helping children of all abilities and their families. Thank you for all you do. You make a long-lasting difference in the lives of so many. We appreciate you! (Left to right: Joanna F., Olivia D., Megan V., Laura V., Cheryl N., Rachel K.)

Delivering Relief to a Family in Need
We asked and you delivered. The community went above and beyond to help us in lifting up a family who relies on the support and resources received from our Early Head Start services. A single mother of three children recently had her vehicle stolen. Her back-to-school shopping was in the car, including clothing and school supplies. Momentum Board of Directors Chair Dr. JJ Levenstein provided the leadership and energy behind the call to action. As of Tuesday, our Momentum community has come together to raise more than $1,100 in cash and another $254.54 in school supplies purchased from the Amazon Wish List. Thank you!

Lyric Brings Joy to People in Momentum’s CLS

That little (soon to be big) pup is Lyric! She toured the area and greeted residents who use Momentum Community Living Services. Director of Programs Robyn Z. brought joy to us with Lyric’s kind demeanor and kisses for those she met. What a pawsitively great day!

Artwork on a National Stage

Karen M. is an incredible artist who could easily be in the running as Los Angeles Lakers’ biggest fan. This beautiful tribute to the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gigi will be headed to Baltimore’s Make Studio, where it will be on display. Congratulations, Karen!
