‘In Case You Missed It’ Highlights – 8/7

August 7, 2022
We head into the dog days of summer with plenty of heat and, finally, a week of fun is here. After a two-year hiatus, Camp Escapades 2022 kicks off this Monday at Rolling Hills Country Day School. This upcoming week of inclusive, accessible camp for children couldn’t have been made possible without our sponsors. We invite you to join us on our social media channels as we’ll have daily dispatches from camp! Read on to learn more about what we’ve been up to these last few weeks.

Weekly Mid-Day Connections Continue at Momentum

We love learning and we have some of the brightest staff working to help teach us. Throughout the summer, our pediatric team has held weekly mid-day connections on covering a wide range of topics. From pediatric mental health to tips on gardening, we’ve stayed engaged in learning new techniques, insights, and useful tools to guide us in our mission to positively impact children and families.

Adult Services Flourish with Trips in the Community

There’s no better time than the summer to experience the great outdoors. Thanks to Momentum Refresh, trips have become more accessible thanks to a truly ADA-accessible restroom that can travel where people need it most, eliminating the worry of proper restroom space or change areas. We’ve kickstarted more adventures to the beach to say hello to the beautiful Pacific Ocean. It’s also fair season and the folks at Buena Park are enjoying the Orange County Fair.

Devon Stern Golf Tournament Raises $52K for Momentum and Momentum WORK, Inc.

We celebrated the July return of the full Devon Stern Golf Tournament with 80 golfers hitting the links at Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks. Thanks to all who helped raise funds for the Devon Stern Children’s Endowment. Proceeds from the event benefit Momentum WORK, Inc. and the Devon Stern Children’s Endowment at Momentum to provide care to children with disabilities, ensuring they will always have access to the ongoing, dignified care they need. You can take a look at photos from the fun day here.

Camp Escapades 2022 Ready for Campers This Week

After years of waiting and months of planning, many days of fun are scheduled for this coming week. Campers are going to have an inclusive, fun-filled week of activities. For the kids we support, this is the chance to be exactly that—kids. Our generous sponsors have given us the opportunity to provide this highly anticipated camp. The entire week will culminate in a closing ceremony campers won’t forget. We’ll keep you updated with photos and video from the week.

Momentum Continues Summer Fundraising Campaign

As we continue to fundraise this summer, we are highlighting the people we support and their families. We care about the entire journey and all involved.

The Rodriguez Family was enrolled in our Early Head Start program. Through our Home-Based and Prenatal option, this family was involved in every program event, Parent Meeting, and Policy Council. The father was an active participant in the Father Figure program and when their youngest child began to receive HRC services, the mother was dually enrolled in the Leaps and Bounds program. We are proud of the family’s accomplishments.

“After our youngest completed both Center and Leaps and Bounds, my husband and I are still involved in our children’s school; my husband learned the value of being involved in the children’s education and spends quality time with them. I feel every family should look for an Early Head Start program in their community, I enjoy helping in recruiting families into the Momentum Early Head Start,” Margarita said.

This is your chance to make a positive impact on the lives of people seeking greater independence and inclusion. Your gift will allow Momentum to continue to provide life-changing therapies, programs, and resources that support children, adults, and their families as they achieve greater independence and access to their communities.
