Momentum Creative Invites Public to New Art Exhibit

Momentum Creative is thrilled to announce an exciting summer art exhibit that will captivate art enthusiasts and the local community alike. Set to open its doors today, Saturday, July 22, at the prestigious Adrian’s Place Santa Monica in the vibrant city, this highly anticipated event will showcase an array of stunning artwork created by numerous talented artists from our esteemed program. We extend a warm invitation to both the public and our dedicated Momentum staff to join us for the grand opening, which will take place from 3 to 6 p.m. To learn more about this exceptional exhibition, please continue reading below:

Our upcoming summer exhibition, The Space Between Us, is an exploration of drawing in all forms and the personal process that comprises a finished piece of artwork—from inspiration to interpretation. As a celebration of the impulse which drives an artist to begin a drawing and follow their muse—wherever it may lead–this exhibition is also a survey of new work from artists across all Momentum Programs and Studios. Through each piece, the intangible becomes tangible as visible lines, figures, marks, colors, and impressions record unique perspectives. Diverse style and vision are juxtaposed in an elegant and ebullient salon installation, creating connections across geography and experience. The culmination of collective energy in The Space Between Us represents where we are at this time, as individuals and as members of a greater artistic community. Steady, yet always moving and changing—we emerge from transitions, personal and shared, with strength, power, and exuberance.

Devon Stern Golf Tournament Raises $45,717

The Devon Stern Golf Tournament, a collaborative event hosted by Momentum and Momentum WORK, Inc., achieved great success through the dedicated efforts of participants and sponsors, resulting in the impressive raising of nearly $46,000.The net proceeds from the tournament support the Devon Stern Children’s Endowment at Momentum, and arts and other programming at Momentum WORK, Inc.

This was the second year the tournament has been held at Los Robles Greens in Thousand Oaks. This tournament has had two generations, three generations, and four generations of families come together with friends to golf or volunteer to support vital programs and services for children and adults.

The overwhelming success of this year’s tournament leaves us feeling grateful and motivated to make next year’s event in July even more significant and impactful. Stay tuned for updates and details, as we’re already planning for a bigger and better tournament next year, continuing our mission to support Momentum and positively impact more lives in need. Thank you to all who contributed and participated in making this event a remarkable achievement.

We’re grateful to the tournament planning committee: Jim Bernard, David Fainer, Dan Lykken, Adey Tadesse-Heath, Rick Stern, and Logan Stern.

Momentum Welcomes South American Therapists

We had the incredible opportunity to host a group of 22 occupational therapists visiting from South America, specifically Chile, Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico). Their enthusiasm was palpable as they eagerly embarked on a tour of the renowned Aryes Clinic. We had the privilege of personally guiding them through the clinic, and we must say, their excitement was inspiring!

These dedicated professionals came to participate in an intensive 11-day advanced sensory integration course, organized by USC. It’s truly an honor for us to witness their commitment to expanding their knowledge and honing their skills in this specialized field.

This is all possible through Momentum’s expanded alignment with USC OT Chan Occupational Therapy, where we created a faculty-practice model at our pediatric clinics in Torrance and Long Beach. As part of this faculty-practice model, Professor Winny Soenaryo, OTD, OTR/L, an Assistant Professor of Clinical Occupational Therapy, joined Momentum as a Senior Director of Professional Development and Clinical Research Coordination, setting our therapeutic services apart from other clinics.

Calling on Volunteers for Camp Escapades

Momentum is excited to be able to have two one-week sessions of Camp Escapades. Between July 31 and August 11, 122 campers will be able to participate and engage in all the sensory camp activities.

To increase the accessibility, Momentum Refresh will be available for campers and staff during both weeks of Camp Escapades. Momentum Refresh is the first-ever universal design mobile restroom resource in the U.S. that offers reasonable accommodation and provides accessibility and inclusivity for all. To learn more about this innovation, visit MomentumRefresh.org.

There is still time if you want to volunteer for the second session of Camp Escapades from August 7 through August 11. Let’s come together to make this year’s camp an enriching and memorable experience for all involved!

Camp Escapades is considered one of the most popular youth volunteer activities in the South Bay. Many of our camp volunteers sign up year after year to participate in a rewarding and enjoyable opportunity to become a “white shirt” that serves as a camper’s buddy during camp. Volunteers are typically students over the age of 14 and receive an orientation as to what they can expect during their time at Camp Escapades. Volunteers not only enjoy a meaningful experience that gives back to the community but they also enjoy opportunities to build better leadership and social skills. Many of our youth volunteers are from South Bay high schools, volunteer organizations, and local colleges and universities. Click below to get signed up!
