It’s Better Hearing & Speech Month, and at Momentum, we are thrilled to offer a comprehensive range of early intervention services to provide the support needed. Throughout this month, we will be sharing valuable tips, useful tools, and shining a spotlight on the incredible staff who make our pediatric and adult programs exceptional. Make sure to follow us on social media to stay connected.

In addition, National Nurses Week is now underway! We want to give a special shout out to our dedicated nurses who provide outstanding care to the individuals we support. If you have the opportunity, take a moment to express your gratitude to any nurses you know for the remarkable work they do.

Lastly, we are still basking in the glow of the extraordinary event we had last week, Momentum Celebrates! It was truly an unforgettable night. Donors Smash Fundraising Goal at Momentum Celebrates

What an incredible evening it was last weekend at our very first Momentum Celebrates! gala. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our dear friends, families, volunteers, and community members who joined us for this momentous occasion. The unwavering support left us truly grateful. Together, we not only achieved but surpassed our ambitious fundraising goal of $300,000! We are amazed by the profound generosity.

We are especially grateful to The Looking Beyond Foundation, whose immense kindness and belief in our mission led them to generously donate $100,000 to support our residential programming in Thousand Oaks. In addition, they provided another $10,000 to help pave the way for future programming at our new site in Thousand Oaks. Their contribution is a testament to their commitment to making a difference in the lives of our community.

Thanks to the collective efforts of everyone involved, an astonishing total of $340,262 was raised. These funds will go a long way in supporting the comprehensive services that Momentum offers each year to more than 6,500 children, adults, and families. That support ensures that we can continue to make a lasting impact on the lives of those who depend on us.

Once again, we express our deepest gratitude to each and every one of you for making our inaugural Momentum Celebrates! gala an unforgettable success. Together, we are creating brighter futures for all. Mark your calendars for next year’s event April 27, 2024.

Camp Escapades Registration Set for May 13

We are excitedly preparing for the upcoming registration of Camp Escapades! But that’s not all; this year, we have decided to extend the camp to a two-week duration. From July 31st to August 11th, children will have the incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in an inclusive camp environment that allows them to simply be kids. To ensure you don’t miss out, we will be sending an email before registration opens, providing you with a specific time when it will be available on Saturday, May 13. If you want to be included on that email list, message us here.

Innovating Products to Help Improve Lives

Momentum takes great pride in partnering with educational institutions that empower their students with the necessary tools and resources to become visionary leaders and critical thinkers. Recently, we had the privilege to witness the ArtCenter College of Design’s remarkable final gallery, where an array of incredible ideas were showcased, all aimed at enhancing the lives of children and adults. The focus of the class was centered around communication and play, two essential aspects that profoundly impact our community.

Looking ahead, we are thrilled to announce our plans for an ongoing collaboration with ArtCenter during the upcoming Summer term, set to commence next month. This collaboration promises to further enrich our shared mission and create innovative solutions for the betterment of our society. Together, we will continue to foster creativity and push the boundaries of what is possible. You can see more of the work here.

Momentum Refresh Wows at Festival of Books

The USC campus experienced a delightful weekend hosting the Los Angeles Times’ annual Festival of Books, a grand literary gathering known as one of the largest in the world. This extraordinary event offered us a valuable opportunity to educate attendees about the transformative power of Refresh, enabling us to provide inclusive restroom facilities that ensure equity and support for readers who require additional space and assistance. As always, be sure to check out our calendar and social media to stay up to date on where we’ll be next.

Psi Delta Sigma Chari – Tea

In April, Momentum gratefully joined the members of Psi Delta Sigma for their Inaugural Chari-Tea fundraising event at the Chado Tea Room in Torrance. Through this and other events since 1955 Psi Sigma Delta has generously provided $1.5 million in support for the children and adults receiving services from Momentum.

It is through the tireless dedication of the sisters of Psi Delta Sigma that we find ways to achieve the next innovation possible for a child to have greater access in a classroom, an adult to be able to have supported employment and live independently, or a family to have peace of mind that their child, who may approach life differently, will be able to achieve their goals for independence and live a purposeful life.

We thank Psi Delta Sigma for generously bringing everyone together in the Chado Tea Room today, to start a new tradition and make future innovations possible for the children, adults, and their families who depend on Momentum every day.
