The Honda Center, Anaheim Ducks Make History with
Momentum Refresh
Momentum Refresh, the country’s first fleet of mobile adaptive restrooms, made history at Honda Center in Anaheim Feb. 17. The contest between the Anaheim Ducks and rival LA Kings was the first NHL game to provide genuinely accessible restrooms to people with mobility issues and disabilities.

“Restroom accessibility is just as important as venue accessibility. Going to the restroom may be something that most of us don’t really give much thought to. However, for caregivers and people with mobility issues or a disability or a medical condition, it is an issue that determines whether you will go to a venue or not. When you struggle to accomplish even simple personal activities, the availability of an accessible restroom in a public place or events like a concert or a hockey game becomes a major consideration in deciding whether or not you’ll go to such an event in the first place.”
– Lori Anderson, President and CEO of Momentum

We’re grateful for the partnership for this opportunity and look forward to bringing this to more games in the future.

Book Donation from National Charity League

Books are gateways to endless learnings and fantastical adventures, and so we couldn’t be happier that Momentum Pediatric Therapy Network (MPTN)’s long-time community partner, National Charity League, Inc. (NCL) Manhattan-Hermosa Chapter, organized a book drive and donated close to 100 books for the benefit of the kids we support. NCL member Samantha Moss sends us a short but sweet message in this video.

Sharing the Love at the V-Day Ball

While the first two months of the year already sped by, we want to look back at our Valentine’s Day. Love and friendship was in the air at our Chatsworth Day Program V-Day Celebration. Everyone was dressed to the nines and danced the night away! Here are a few of the photos from the fun.

Giving Back & Feeding the Soul
The people we support love giving back. Of the many partnerships and alignments we have as an organization, this one brings together communities in Van Nuys.

Every week, folks at our Strathern program pick up some pastries and bread from participating bakeries through the partnership with Bagel Brigade.

As you can see, this weekly tradition makes Johnny and Tim happy and excited to deliver the goodies to SOVA Community Food Bank to share with families in the community.

Honoring a Legend: Judy Heumann,
Disability Rights Activist
Judith “Judy” Heumann—widely regarded as “the mother” of the disability rights movement—passed away in Washington, D.C. on the afternoon of March 4, 2023. Judy was at the forefront of major disability rights demonstrations, helped spearhead the passage of disability rights legislation, founded national and international disability advocacy organizations, held senior federal government positions, co-authored her memoir, Being Heumann, and its Young Adult version, Rolling Warrior, and was featured in the Oscar-nominated documentary film, Crip Camp: A Disability Revolution.

“Some people say that what I did changed the world,” she wrote, “But really, I simply refused to accept what I was told about who I could be. And I was willing to make a fuss about it.” You can read more about the incredible life she lived here.
