Celebrating World Cerebral Palsy Day
We are deeply proud of our roots as an organization. Born in 1945, we have long supported those with Cerebral Palsy. We still offer that assistance today, along with support for so many other diagnoses. World Cerebral Palsy Day was filled with accomplishments and Momentum Board of Directors Member Adam Bremen received some sweet news for his hard work. Adam is the founder of CanDo, makers of Keto Krisp. Their team received the Whole Foods Supplier of the Year award! Congratulations! Learn more about Adam and CanDo here.
Another Momentum Board Member, Brandon Mendenhall, celebrated World Cerebral Palsy Day with his band: The Mendenhall Experiment.
They just released a powerful single off their upcoming EP called “Stronger Together.” The Mendenhall Experiment is a heavy rock band that raises disability awareness, inspiring others to realize their dreams. You can listen to their music on your favorite streaming platform. Learn more about them and stay updated on concerts here. Rock on, Brandon!

Physical Therapist Spotlight: Laura V. (Momentum PTN)

What do you want people to know about the therapies you provide?
We work to make everyday activities easier for kids. We help improve strength, range of motion, coordination, and promote proper movement patterns.

What do you think about the Momentum PTN physical therapy department?
Tiny but mighty!

What is the biggest misconception about physical therapy or physical therapists?
That we just play with kids all day. While it’s true we do utilize play to aid in participation and engagement, there are many areas such as strength, coordination, and balance that we are continually assessing and addressing while engaged in play.

What should parents ask physical therapists when figuring out a plan for their child?
What can we do at home to ensure the carryover of the skills learned in clinic.

What are your favorite hobbies and activities outside of Momentum PTN?
Spending time at the beach with my family and exploring new children’s museums and activities with my kids.

What are your favorite tools to implement in your physical therapy sessions?
I like to use an exercise ball for developing core strength and postural control. I like it because it can be used in a variety of ways and for babies all the way up through adolescence.

Rocking Out in Chatsworth

…And speaking of rock…
Our Chatsworth homes hosted a concert and barbecue. The band Hostile Witness kicked out the jams during a beautiful October Saturday as we grilled up some food and enjoyed the tunes. This was our first on-location concert since the pandemic began and we must say, it felt good to bring it back.
