Exploring Culture Through the Art of Gyotaku

Last month, our adult Community-Based Day Program visited Ventura Harbor Village to take part in an Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month activity. As part of the month-long celebration, Ventura Harbor Village hosted a Gyotaku fish printing workshop, a traditional Japanese art form that originated in the 1800s.

The group was invited to stay for the entire workshop and enjoy exploring Ventura Harbor Village, thanks to Momentum Refresh’s presence at the event. It was a meaningful day of creativity, cultural learning, and community connection.

Exploring Art Through Shapes and Creativity

Students at Momentum Work, Inc.’s Santa Barbara Art Works Adaptive Art Program used shapes to build their own creative robots, exploring circles, squares, rectangles, and triangles while practicing imagination, fine motor skills, and self-expression. Every robot had its own personality!

Accessibility on the Go with Momentum Refresh

Momentum Refresh was recently at the Columbus Arts Festival, helping make the event more accessible for attendees who need a private, comfortable space for personal care. By providing clean, convenient mobile restroom facilities with adult-sized changing tables and lifts, Momentum Refresh helps remove barriers so everyone can fully enjoy community events with dignity and confidence. Driven by Mobility, Leading Through Advocacy

For more than a decade, Bahrul has been a leading advocate for disability rights in Indonesia.

A wheelchair user himself, Bahrul has dedicated his career to improving local and national policies and expanding access in public facilities. His advocacy for accessible places of worship helped allow Muslim wheelchair users to enter mosques, challenging traditional purity rules.

Mobility creates opportunities, independence, and the power to make change.
