Highlighting National Nurses Week

May 11, 2023

We have a remarkable staff of nurses here at Momentum that includes 8 RNs and 13 LVNs. Let’s take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to them as they have gone above and beyond, especially during these challenging times. Your unwavering commitment, selflessness, and expertise make a world of difference. Read more about several on our team below.

As we continue National Nurses Week, meet Zheng McNeil, an LVN who has helped people with her expertise and kindness for the last 13 years.

“Being a nurse to me means helping others and making their life better,” she said. “Here everyone is a family member. Including our nursing team. That’s why we have such longevity, we feel like a family. We do our best every single day.”

Marisyl Solivio is our Director of Nursing & Clinical Education. She has a master’s in nursing and clinical informatics. We’re grateful to have her expertise!

“Nursing to me means patient, being empathetic, being compassionate,” she says. “You are continuously nurturing anyone who comes your way. Not only are we doing nursing for people supported but everyone we work with in general. It’s a constant caring spirit with you that’s a natural instinct. It’s not a job, you have to love what you do. You grow with nursing.”

Laila Alejandro is a registered nurse at Momentum and has helped people here for the last eight years.

“You learn how to be patient, compassionate, how to be kind,” she said. “I treat them as family. The more you know them, the deeper the care. It’s much more personal. You’re building a relationship of care.”

“I’m so appreciative of fellow nurses. They do good work taking care of the people we support. Our nurses here go above and beyond. I really appreciate them so much. The teamwork we build is exceptional. Working with them is such an honor.”

For the last 17 years, Godofredo Perez has given his all as an LVN at Momentum.

“This is a noble profession. It’s like a family. We’re family. I advocate with them and that’s what I love. You gain their trust and feel what they want. You have to be sensitive to their needs. You learn other ways to communicate. You can do a lot of communication. That’s why I’ve been here 17 years because they’ve become a family to me,” he says. “I see our team’s compassion, the love for the people we support. They are amazing people.”

Shout out to Joon Bae, who has been an LVN at Momentum for more than three years now.

“I’m able to help people with my skills. I can maximize my skills to provide so they can get the best care. We are so connected here. We have a really good connection and I’m attached to the people,” Joon said. “I’m really happy we have nurses I trust. And we always work together, being there for each other as one. Communication and support is a huge piece of how we do our job.”
