Born with Cerebral Palsy, Don began living at Momentum in 1988. Here he found stability. He found support. He found his best life.
Don pumped his fist from his Momentum bedroom as he watched his beloved Dodgers wrap up an incredible, historic season. Spend an afternoon with Don and you’ll learn about his love for the Dodgers, Gwen Stefani’s music, gardening, and advocacy. “I’m passionate about improving other people’s quality of life.” That passion stems from overcoming the challenges of living with a disability since birth. In 2002, Don was first diagnosed with cancer. He’s beaten it twice, crediting doctors and the support of family, friends, and staff at Momentum. “It’s emotional to talk about, but I’m a positive person who was determined to beat it.” And he did. Don is a person who meets and overcomes challenges with a no doubt, by any means attitude. Like you, he has dedicated his time to growing Momentum and we’re grateful he’s part of our community. Don helps lead the advocacy committee that assists in improving operations for residents and staff. He plants ideas like he does marigolds, rosemary, and sunflowers. “As far as gardening, you have to make it like life. You have to ensure you’re leaving space for water to reach the seeds. As I turn 60 next year, I’m still learning, still growing. I hope my story can help others.”

There are so many people like Don who deserve to live their best life and we need your help to make it happen!
Don inspires us with his desire to create a better life for others with disabilities. You can too. Like the seeds Don sows, you have a chance to watch a powerful investment in the lives of people like him bloom. The donation you make today funds the services and care for hundreds of people at Momentum. Our programs and homes are designed to best meet their needs. This is your chance to grow with our organization. Together, with your generosity, we can help those we support live without barriers at our community residential homes.
We promise to continue providing excellent care to the hundreds of adults we support in their daily lives. These services require funding from a number of sources including state and federal dollars, and while those funding streams ebb and flow, we know our donors and supporters want to continue to improve the lives of those we serve. We leverage every dollar of funding we receive from generous people like you. Each dollar you donate this holiday season goes directly to expanding our services. We promise choice to the adults who attend our day programming and reside in our independent living apartments throughout Southern California. Individuals with Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism and other disabilities deserve your support. We are passionate about growing community and a sense of belonging. I’m grateful to have your trust in providing essential and exceptional care to men and women — our neighbors. Join our mission in advancing the independence, productivity, and full citizenship of children and adults with disabilities and medical conditions.
